AGE LIMITS

Traditional Taolus of free hands and weapons:

Young children: up to 8 years of age;

Children: from 9 to 11 years;

Junior children: from 12 to 14 years;

Junior youngsters: from 15 to 17 years;

Adults: from 18 to 35 years;

Seniors: over 35 years  (for beginners, intermediates and advanced).

 

Competitive Wushu:

            Advanced only.

Junior youngsters: up to 17 years;

Adults: from 18 to 35 years;

Seniors: over 35 years.

 

Tai Chi Chuan:

Advanced only.

Junior youngsters: up to 17 years;

Adults: from 18 to 35 years;

Seniors: over 35 years.

                       

Sanshou fight:

Advanced only.

Junior youngsters: from 15 to 17 years;

Adults: 18 and over.

 

Lei Tai fight (Kuoshu):

Beginners, intermediates and advanced.

Junior Youngsters: from 15 to 17 years;

Adults: 18 and over.

 

            Classic fight:

             Advanced only.

             Junior youngsters: from 15 to 17 years;

Shuai Jiao fight:

            Advanced only.

Tui Shou:

Advanced only.

TIME OF PRACTICE (EXPERIENCE)

Beginners: up to 2 years’ experience; 

Intermediates: from 2 to 4 years’ experience;

Advanced: over 4 years’ experience.

 

TAOLUS (FORMS) OF FREE HANDS IN COMPETITION

In order to achieve the best score possible, the form should be performed with no breaks, and with emphasis and focus. The uniform and the competitor’s presentation are also taken into account. The organizer reserves the right to combine categories, if necessary.

Taolu Southern style: This is the free hands modality in which the athletes show forms with the southern characteristics;

Taolu Northern style: This is the free hands modality in which the athletes show forms with the northern characteristics;

Other forms: Other forms include: all those forms with non-traditional characteristics, as well as Drunk and Monkey forms that use acrobatics and movements similar to Wushu, and all forms without the defined characteristics of Kung Fu traditional schools. 

 

 

 

 

TAOLUS WITH WEAPONS IN COMPETITION

Long Weapons: Simple Long staff and Simple Spear;

Short Weapons: Simple Broadsword and Simple Straight Sword;

Articulated Weapons: Lan Tin Kwan (Nunchaku of 2 parts), San Tin Kwan (Nunchaku of 3 parts), Chain, Simple Whip, etc;

Double Weapons: Double spear, Double Broadsword, Double Butterfly Knife, Sword and Shield, Double Tiger Ear Hook etc;

Other Weapons (all other weapons): Pu dao, Kau Wan Tou, Single Butterfly Knife, Single Dagger, Single Tiger Ear Hook, Fan, Stool, Cane, Flute, Short Staff, Staff with Sword (Kwan Dao), Staff with Trident (Three-Pronged Fork) etc.

 

MANDATORY SUITS FOR TAOLUS COMPETITION

For the Taolus competitions the athlete will have to wear the traditional uniform of the Chinese school. Please note: there will be no uniform distinction between the Northern and Southern styles. It is forbidden to wear tennis.

INTERNAL STYLES

Tai Chi Chuan Simplified 24 movements: here is included only the simplified form of 24 movements. Performance time: up to 5 minutes;

Tai Chi Chuan Yang style: 16 movements and others. Performance time: up to 4 minutes;

Tai Chi Chuan other styles: this category includes all those non-traditional forms such as forms without the defined characteristics of internal schools of Tai Chi. Performance time: up to 4 minutes;

Tai Chi Chuan Wu, Chen and Sun styles: Performance time: up to 4 minutes.

 

 

Other internal styles: Pa Kua Chuan, Hsing I Chuan, I Chuan, Zhou I Chuan and others. Performance time: up to 4 minutes;

Tai Ji Jian - simplified 32 movements with sword: Performance time: up to 4 minutes;

Internal style with other weapons: Here are included all other internal style weapons. Performance time: up to 4 minutes;

 

Note: The individual competitions may be performed simultaneously by two athletes, depending on the number of athletes registered for these categories.

 

Warning: If Taolus go over the maximum performance time allowed there will be a penalty of 0.01 point for each extra 10 seconds on the final average.

 

Mandatory suits: Athletes have to wear the Chinese long jacket, trousers and Chinese kung fu shoes or tennis with low soles.

 

COMPETITIVE WUSHU

Compulsory Wushu: Nanquan (south fist) / Changquan (north fist) / Daoshu (broadsword) / Jianshu (sword) / Gunshu (staff) / Qiangshu (spear) / Nandao (south broadsword) / Nangun (south staff). Minimum performance time: 1’20”;

Preparatory Wushu of 32 positions: Changquan / Nanquan / Daoshu / Gunshu / Jianshu / Qianshu;

 

Tai Ji Quan: Compulsory 42 movements of free hands.

 

Performance time: 5 to 6 minutes;

Tai Ji Jian: Compulsory 42 movements with sword. Performance time: 3 to 4 minutes.

 

Notice: in this event we will have no separation of new and old forms of modern Wushu, the athletes will have to compete in only one category. If the Taolus exceed the maximum performance time permitted there will be a penalty of 0.01 points for each extra 10 seconds on the final average.

 

HOW THE FORMS WILL BE JUDGED  

Side referees and two head referees will do the evaluations.

If an athlete forgets or does not complete the form, he/she will be automatically disqualified, and will not have another chance to repeat the form;

In all cases of even scores, we will add the 3 marks and divide by 3;

In the case of a second draw, the two highest marks will be added;

In the case of a third draw, the athletes will have to repeat the same form;

If the draw still remains, the winner will be the athlete with the highest number of entries in the event.

 

 

THE MARKS WILL BE GIVEN AS FOLLOWS:  

Beginners from 6.00 to 7.50;

Intermediates from 7.00 to 8.50;

Advanced from 8.00 to 9.50.

 

EVALUATION OF FREE HANDS AND WEAPON FORMS

The athletes will be evaluated according to the following aspects:

Legs and feet positions;

Speed;

Balance;

Concentration;

Difficulty;

Forgetfulness;

Foul (to break the weapon, fall, beat on the ground etc.);

Correct expression and eyes looking in the correct direction.

 

POINTS LOST IN THE TAOLUS PERFORMANCE

  • Entering the competition area from the wrong side: minus 0.04 points in the final average;
  • Position of the feet and legs executed inadequately: minus 0.02 points in the final average;
  • Momentary loss of balance: minus 0.03 points in the final average;
  • Loss of balance and/or fall to the ground including touching the ground with the hands: minus 0.06 points in the final average;
  • Forgetfulness: minus 0.02 points in the final average;
  • If the weapon accidentally touches the ground or the competitor’s body: minus 0.05 points in the final average;
  • Breaking the weapon or letting it fall to the ground: minus 0.05 points in the final average;
  • In the case of the athlete not doing or not completing   the form, he/she will be automatically disqualified, having no right to another attempt.

 

RULES OF FIGHT COMPETITION – SANSHOU

  1. Official Weight - Male Child, Junior Child, Junior Youngster and Adult: up to 48 kg / up to 52 kg / up to 56 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / up to 80 kg / up to 85 kg / up to 90 kg / above 90 kg;
  2. Official weight - Female Child, Junior Child, Junior Youngster and Adult: up to 48 kg / up to 52 kg / up to 56 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / above 75 kg;
  3. Mandatory equipment for fight: Mouth protector; head guard (open helmet); feet protector (shin and foot protector); groin guard (genital protector inside pants); closed gloves, as for boxing (categories up to 65kg = 143 pounds, and over 70kg = 154 pounds) and chest protector;
  4. Mandatory suits: Kung Fu black or red shorts, T-shirt and no shoes. It is forbidden to compete wearing long pants in this category;
  5. Duration of fight: The fight will be of 3 rounds of 1’30” with 1 minute rest;
  6. Note: The Sanshou fight is only for advanced athletes.

 

POINTS AND FOULS

      1-Illegal techniques: 1) To attack the opponent with  the head, elbows, knees or to apply torsion to the joints; 2) To knock down the

      opponent’s head or deliberately to lean your weight on him/her; 3) kick the opponent’s head while he/she is fallen on the ground; 4) to continue

      beating the opponent’s head with the hands; 5) to hit behind the head, neck, throat or groin; 6) sequence of punches to the head.

2-The fighter wins 3 points if: 1) The opponent leaves the platform during the round; 2) the fighter hits the opponent with a revolving kick to the head; 3) the fighter makes the opponent fall with sacrifice technique such as tripping.

3-The fighter wins 2 points when: 1) the opponent falls, touching the ground with any part of the body except the feet, while the other is standing; 2) the fighter kicks the trunk or the head of the opponent; 3) the opponent commits a serious foul (red card); 4) the referee starts counting for the opponent once.

4-The fighter wins 1 point when: 1) he/she hits the opponent with the hands once in an allowed part of the body; 2) the fighter kicks the thigh of the opponent with well defined technique; 3) the opponent commits a light foul; 4) the opponent falls on purpose and remains on the ground for more than three seconds; 5) If, using technique, the fighter and his/her opponent fall, but the opponent falls first.

5-The fighters do not win a point when:  1) they hit themselves at the same time; 2) both leave the platform; 4) a fall is completed after two seconds; 5) a fighter falls when using a technique that demands sacrifice fall and is unsuccessful; 6) a fighter attacks the opponent when the same is caught; 7) the  technique employed is not clear and the fighter does not reach his/her opponent.

6-Technical fouls: 1) to retard himself/herself for the fight; 2) to require interruption in a disadvantaged position; 3) to hold the opponent’s arm passively; 4) to cry/shout during the fight; 5) to disrespect the referee; 6) to deliberately lose protection equipment.

7-Personal fouls: 1) to attack before the start signal or after the interruption signal by the referee; 2) to attack using illegal techniques; 3) to hit the opponent in forbidden parts.

8-Methods of punishment: 1) A light foul will be given for a technical foul (yellow card); 2) A serious foul will be given for a personal foul (red card); 3) a competitor will win the fight if his opponent has had more than six points deducted; 4) the competitor who commits 3 personal fouls will be disqualified for the fight; 5) the penalty for the use of illegal substances before or during a competition is disqualification and expulsion of all events.

9-The fight will be suspended in the following cases: 1) if the competitor falls or leaves the platform; 2) if the competitor receives a punishment; 3) if the competitor grasps the opponent for more than 2 seconds without attack intention; 4) if the competitor is hurt; 5) if the competitor falls on purpose (with the intention of an attack) and remains on the ground for more than 3 seconds; 6) if the competitor asks for suspension of the fight for objective reasons; 7) if the head referee points out any mistake or omission of the side referee;  8) if there are problems or danger in the platform that need to be sorted out; 9) if after receiving order to attack the competitor remains passive for more than 8 seconds.

10-Knockout technique (absolute victory): 1) if, for three times in a fight, a fighter efficiently applies an action worth three points; 2) when there is a great difference in technique between the two competitors; 3) if one of the fighters knocks down the other with a legal blow and he remains on the ground or is unconscious after the counting of ten seconds.

11-Winner or loser of one round: 1) the result of each round will be determined in accordance with the judgment of the side referees; 2) if one of the fighters receives a strong blow (legal) and the referee starts safety counting of eight seconds twice, his/her opponent will win the round; 3) the competitor who leaves the platform twice in the same round will be the loser of that round.

12- Winner or loser of the fight: 1) the competitor who wins the 2 first rounds in a fight will be the winner; 2) the competitor will win the fight if his/her opponent is hurt or not apt to continue by medical decision; 3) If during a fight , a competitor falsely pretends to be hurt by a faulty action by his/her opponent, the medical team will verify the situation and establish the facts, before the opponent can be declared to be the winner; 4) if during the fight, one of the sides is hurt by faulty action by his/her opponent and will not be in a condition to continue fighting, on medical orders, the competitor who has been hurt will be the winner of the fight, but he/she will not be allowed to participate in the next fight.

 

RULES OF FIGHT COMPETITION - LEI TAI (KUOSHU)

 

  1. Official Weight  - Male Junior and Adult: up to 48 kg / up to 52 kg / up to 56 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / up to 80 kg / up to 85 kg / up to 90 kg / above 90 kg;
  2. Official Weight - Female Junior and e Adult: up to 48 kg / up to 52 kg / up to 56 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / above 75 kg;
  3. Mandatory equipment for fight: mouth protector; head guard (closed helmet with grating); chest protector; feet protector (shin and foot protector); groin guard (genital protector inside pants) and gloves with fingers out;
  4. Mandatory suits: Kung Fu black pants and T-shirt. It is forbidden to compete wearing shorts in this category;
  5. Duration of fight: The fights will last 3 rounds of 1’30” with 1 minute rest;
  6. Note: Lei Tai fight is for beginners, intermediates and advanced athletes.

POINTS AND FOULS

  1. Illegal techniques: 1) extreme use of force; 2) use of dangerous throws that make the opponent fall with the head or the neck on the ground; 3) tripping above the ankle; 4) attacks to the joints, groin, throat, eyes, behind the head and to the spine; 5) to grasp, to fight body-to-body, to kick or to punch at the same time; 6) any joint twisting.
  2. The fighter wins 3 points if: the opponent leaves the area of the Lei Tai.
  3. The fighter wins 2 points when: he/she executes a clean fall  (by blow or technique).
  4. The fighter wins 1 point: 1) if he/she kicks the thigh; 2) kicks the trunk; 3) kicks the head; 4) punches the trunk or head; 5) kicks with knee or elbow to the head or the trunk without holding the opponent.
  5. The fighter does not win a point: 1) if he/she holds and attacks with the knee or elbow to the head or trunk of the opponent; 2) if he/she falls together with the opponent; 3) if he/she falls with the opponent outside of the area of the Lei Tai .
  6. Technical fouls: 1) to disobey the commands of the head referee; 2) to disobey the event rules; 3) aggressive behavior; 4) equipment imperfection; 5) if the athlete does not present himself/herself immediately to the Lei Tai area when called.
  7. Personal fouls: 1) to bite, spit or insult 2) attacks using the head; 3) fracture or displacement techniques; 4) attack to any of the following areas: eyes, nape of the neck, spine, throat, groins, joints (knees and elbows), internal part of the thigh.
  8. Punishment Methods (the head referee can give a public or private warning to the athlete, depending on the gravity of the foul or offence): For technical fouls by means of public warning: 1) 1st warning: no deduction of points; 2) 2nd warning: deduction of one point; 3) 3rd warning: disqualification of the athlete. For personal fouls by means of public warning: 1) 1st warning: deduction of one point; 2) 2nd warning: deduction of three points; 3) 3rd warning: disqualification of the athlete.
  9. Knockout technique (absolute victory): winner or loser of one round and winner or loser of the fight, please follow the Sanshou fight rules.

RULES OF FIGHT COMPETITION - CLASSIC FIGHT

The side referees will have to observe the competitor who uses more traditional techniques during the fight. With the aim of reviving the natural Kung Fu fight, the classic fight takes part in this event to rescue the true essence of the technique of each style of Kung Fu.

Here the athlete will be able to demonstrate his/her knowledge without protection. Aiming at the natural characteristics of each style of Kung Fu, he/she will show his/her ability, technique, the beauty of the style and prediction of blows.

The modality of classic fight will follow the Liga Nacional de Kung Fu’s own specific regulations. Only graduated competitors or competitors with more practice and experience will be enrolled. Competitors must be used to fight using the traditional Kung Fu techniques (mantis, white crane, snake, tiger, dragon, leopard, monkey, drunk and so on).

This competition’s objective is to allow the athletes to fight without the conventional protectors and in accordance with the rules, to apply in the fight the classic techniques of the several Kung Fu styles based on the movements of the animals. Only application of blows and touches (light contact) will be allowed in this competition.

  • Official Weight - Male and Female Adult Advanced: up to 50 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 80 kg / up to 90 kg and above 90 kg;
  • Mandatory equipment for protection: mouth protector and groin guard (genital protector inside pants);
  • Mandatory suits: traditional clothes of your school and Chinese shoes;
  • Duration of fight: The fight will last 3 rounds of 1 minute with 30 seconds rest;
  • Note: The Classic Fight is only for advanced athletes.

RULES OF COMPETITION OF TUI SHOU (FIXED STEPS OF TAI CHI)

  1. Official Weight - Male Adult Advanced: up to 52 kg / up to 56 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / up to 80 kg / up to 85 / up to 90 kg and above 90 kg;
  2. Official Weight - Female Adult Advanced: up to 48 kg / up to 52 kg / up to 56 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / up to 80 and above 80 kg;
  3. Mandatory equipment for fight: mouth protector;
  4. Mandatory suits: Kung Fu pants, T-shirt and Chinese shoes;
  5. Duration of fight: The fight will last 2 rounds of 1 minute with 30 seconds rest. If there is a tie in the 2 rounds, there will be a 3rd round;
  6. Note: The Tui Shou fight is only for advanced athletes.

RULES OF FIGHT COMPETITION - SHUAI JIAO

     1-Official Weight - Male Adult Advanced: up to 57     kg / up to 62 kg / up to 67 kg / up to 72 kg / up to 77 kg / up to 82 kg / up to 87 kg /

      up to 92 kg / up to 97 kg / above 97 kg;

2-Official Weight – Female Adult Advanced: up to 50 kg / up to 55 kg / up to 60 kg / up to 65 kg / up to 70 kg / up to 75 kg / up to 80 kg / above 80 kg;

3-Mandatory suits: The competitor will have to present himself wearing Shuai Jiao vest, blue or red band, black pants and using Chinese shoes;

4-Duration of fight: The fight will last 2 rounds of 3 minutes with 30 seconds rest for men and 2 rounds of 2 minutes with 30 seconds rest for women. If there is a tie in the 2 rounds, there will be a 3rd round;

5-Note: The Shuai  Jiao fight is only for advanced athletes.

 

Additional Information

  • With the aim of bringing to our guests an event of quality, we ask teachers or masters and their athletes to follow rigorously the rules of the event.
     
  • Please note: each person responsible for an association will have to read with great care and attention the general rules and information before filling in the registration form of their athlete to prevent upsets and annoyances.
     
  • In order to receive the best possible marks, the Taolus (form) must be demonstrated without interruption, with emphasis and focus (concentration). The competitors’ uniform will also be taken into account. The organization of the event reserves to right to combine or to separate categories, if necessary.
  • For all events of the World Kung Fu League, the competitors will have to wear adequate clothes and the clothes have to fit the characteristics of the Chinese Martial Arts.
  • Each association will have to bring the equipment for their athletes in accordance with the categories under which they have enrolled. The event organizer will not supply and will not loan equipment.
  • Medical Certificate: All fight athletes, regardless of nationality, will have to present themselves at the time of weighing with a medical certificate stating that the athlete is able to participate in a fight competition. (The lack of a medical certificate will cause disqualification). Each fight participant has to present a medical certificate dated not over 4 weeks' before the date of the competition. There will be no certified doctor available on the day of the competition so the athletes must get their medical certificate before the day of the competition.
  • There will be an emergency unit to assist in any eventuality.
  • According to the official rules of WKFL (World Kung Fu League), the athlete who, at the time of weighing is  out of the weight under which he/she is enrolled will be automatically disqualified.
  • We hope to organize an event of high level and to have everybody’s support.
  • Straight after the competition the athletes will be awarded personalized medals of 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
